Search Engine Optimisation Once you have a website uploaded to a server, you will want search engines to find it. Ideally you would like to have it at the top of the first page on every search engine - unfortunately, so does everyone else. But there are things we can do to help ensure that Google, Yahoo etc find your site as quickly as possible. Many website companies will tell you that they will get you listed on Google within days, this is more or less impossible so don't believe everything you hear. Google themselves are quoted as saying it can take several weeks, even a few months before their "crawler" reads your site. |

But even if your site isn't immediately on the front page of Google it is still performing a very useful job as a ambassador for your company. Your business cards will have your website on them as will your literature and every email you send out. Your emails will no longer have to be someone@hotmail.com but can become someone@yourdomain.com Looks so much better and also advertises your website for you. Carried out properly, you can realistically expect Google to find your site from searches with suitable key words within a few weeks. The key is how unique your products or service is. If you manufacture furniture then you are one in very many others who also are vying from the top slot. If, on the other hand, you manufacture furniture that is designed for children, or the handicapped, or any other market where the supply is more limited, you are more likely to hit the front page.
